I didn’t get out of camp until 0810. I had to stop for selfies right away of course cause I forgot to take them at camp.
I met a few hikers cooking breakfast and seems like a really nice group but they all left early. I felt I had to hurry up too. Saw Jim from Hawaii who I’d met late yesterday. He’d made it from Campo as well after night hiking on his day one as well.
It’s pretty going from Morena to Cibbetts CG.
I snapped a couple photos going through Cottonwood Creek area I think it’s Cleveland national forest really pretty with these beautiful large old cottonwood trees. Pretty
Met many hikers – Lmberjack (sean) from NM, Felicia from AK w/her BF, Slim (Boston), Brian &Bill (w/ Michael?), Jim (Honolulu from 15th)
Ate lunch at Boulder Creek CG. Acutally cooked lunch. Pulled tent out to let it dry in sun (condensation). Called HH — He was really happy with the Garmin , think he’s been really worried. He’d watch a few PCT videos and he’s thinking about doing it now but it also raised his fears/concerns for me.
Feet were tired only did 12 miles on trail but 13 miles overall. Cibbetts is 8/10 m off trail down a descending winding road. At first couldn’t find other hikers. Place was empty and campsite cost $14. Decided to tank up on water and camp free up near trail. Meant the one mile climb back up dirt road. Ugh. CG was literally empty.
But then saw Jonas from Germany. I walked over to see if where they were was hiker camping.. They said yes, $14 but they were sharing a site. I told them I’d join them (At first I thought they were each paying the $14). Was setting up tent and Slim from Boston who I met while making bfast at Morena was there too.
With Jonas was Sandra and Simona from Germany. Sandra and Diana from Switzerland. Then Felicia & BF (Alaska) arrived. And Orange (he wears all orange) Then LUmberjack and Wes whom I met under the cottonwood creek bridge when i stopped to check my left foot and install my sun umbrella. Later Jim from HI arrived with Captain Kirk and Alana from Canada (Toronto?) They were a lot of fun. I talked with them a bit. Kirk built a fire from firewood that’s been left at their campsite and a lot of us went over an hung out. Lots of fun and laughs. I was back in tent by 2000. Not really interesting in typing up blog posts especially since I’m so far behind.
Windy today and tonight. We’re above 4000ft and its gioing to be cold. Thinking my 20 deg bag may not be enough. Even with liner. I put on darn tough sleep socks and am wearing MH puffy jacket. We shall see. May have to stick feet in pack to keep em warm!
9miles to Laguna tmrw. Thinking about getting rm at lodge. I’ll want to hang out with Kirk, Alana, Jim, lumberjack et al…. but I really need to catch up on blogs!!!
P.O. doesn’t open til afternoon.
