about mTnfLY

I’m a middle-aged, sometime hiker who’s dreamed of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) for over 20 years. The plan was to do it between jobs/natural career transitions, but somehow, at those junctures, life always seemed to get in the way. The trail never got hiked.

Finally, fearing the window of opportunity to complete the PCT would someday close, I decided to have a go at it in 2018.

mTnfLY.net is the online journal of my PCT thru hike.  I’m writing primarily for myself as a way to document and remember my journey.  I’m publicly sharing this because friends have expressed interest in following along and a blog seems a logical way to achieve both objectives.

Since this is my “memory book”, I will be posting pretty much everything I want to remember – the good, the bad, as well as the really embarrassing.  I have no problem laughing at myself, especially when it’s the result of my own naivety or lack of thorough and thoughtful planning (aka stupidity) .  If it makes you laugh too, then bonus for both of us.  I like to make people smile.  However, if it makes you feel smug, superior or snarky, kindly keep those thoughts/comments to yourself.  Be nice and let’s just enjoy the journey and laughs along the way.
